Just as your business needs a brand, you can brand yourself personally, especially when there is so much social media marketing going on. People want to connect with real human beings -- we all get irritated with automated telephone and website systems and not being able to speak to a real person. When you brand yourself personally, you become a unique individual with a USP that will stand out from the crowd. It also allows you to develop rapport with your audience.

Ways you can brand yourself on a personal level include having a personal website, www.yourname.com and a blog. You could even use a blog as an alternative to a website depending on what you are selling. Here you can communicate with your visitors and followers on a personal level -- remember to keep the topic of your content around a theme and avoid going off on too much of a tangent, especially if you have a tightly targeted niche market.

If you are trying to develop personal branding, it is important that you show photographs of yourself and use a penned signature. Also try creating audio recordings as this will really personalize your communication – short videos are even better as they combine all these elements.
Develop your personal brand

One of the first things you need to do when you create your personal brand is to differentiate yourself from your competition. Do your market research competitive research so that you know what you are up against -- you have to find something different and unique about yourself that will attract followers and benefit your business.

Identify your strengths and weaknesses and those of your competitors, and then develop your own strengths, in relation to your business. It's easier to further develop your strengths rather than spend time trying to correct your failings. Is there a way you can market your strengths? Think it through very carefully and spend time planning before you put your ideas into action.
